Introduction

The PTE is a computer-based academic English language test aimed at non-native English speakers wanting to study abroad. It assesses reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills and is recognized by thousands of universities worldwide, including prestigious institutions in the USA, UK, Australia, and Canada. The test is developed by Pearson PLC group and is designed to test English language skills in an academic context.

The PTE consists of three parts: Speaking and Writing (combined), Reading, and Listening. The test takes approximately 2 hours and is completed in a single session without any scheduled breaks. Note-taking is permitted during the test.

The test is entirely computer-based and administered through Pearson VUE authorized centers globally.

Score validity is 2 years.

Types of PTE:

The PTE Academic is the most common version and is available globally. It is designed to assess the English language skills of candidates planning to study at a higher education level. Another variant, PTE General, is used to assess communicative ability and is less academically focused but not as widely recognized as the PTE Academic.
